Our Facebook Page

Just to let everyone know, we have a recently created Facebook page that I've now linked to on the Home page of Hansoka.

Hopefully the Facebook page will grow, and make a useful complement to this blog (and vice versa), as well as the club's other forms of communication.

Here is the page again:

AKJ_Thanks for the farewell card =)

Thanks to everyone at the club for the farewell card!

As mentioned in an earlier post (under A Karateka in Japan), one of our students (aka me) is travelling to Japan for an Exchange next week.

Our Club very kindly got me a farewell card that's so nice that I thought I had to post it. I even added Shihan's explanations of the pictures! I hope I remembered them correctly...

I will miss you all in Japan, and hopefully I'll be back training at the I.G.K Tas soon!

Sensei's New Dojo!

Hi all,

Here is Sensei Vince's flyer for the new Dojo he's opening at Cambridge (Tas). Well done Sensei for making the leap! Hopefully everyone will support you and the new Dojo - I'm looking forward to seeing how it progresses...

Anyone who can't make it to our main Dojo or main lesson times, Sensei will teach at 989 Cambridge Road on Wednesdays 4:30-6pm. Even if you just feel like an extra training, head along! - See the flyer for more!

Thanks!

Avoiding Dehydration

Dehydration is cumulative, which means you can become dehydrated over successive days of training if you fail to hydrate adequately. Have you noticed that you feel sluggish, have a general sense of fatigue, suffer from headaches, a loss of appetite, feel excessively hot, feel light headed or nauseas - I know I have. These are all symptoms of dehydration. A good check to keep in mind is of your urine. It should be a pale yellow colour which indicates you are within 1% of optimal hydration.
Always start exercise well hydrated and during exercise drink according to thirst. Water is a suitable fluid replacement for low to moderate intensity exercise lasting less than 1 hour. For intense exercise lasting up to an hour a sports drink could be considered. Now we are entering an area that needs consideration - rapid fluid replacement is the main priority or fuel replacement is the main priority?

AKJ_Watch this space!

The excitement is building for our Karate student soon heading off on a University Exchange to Nagoya, Japan.

Watch this space early April for posts from Japan. These posts will include Japanese cultural and lifestyle content, not just Karate points! Hopefully, due to the relevance of Japan to any Karate study, these posts will be a useful addition to our blog.

tanoshimi ni shite imasu!
I'm looking forward to it!
